Disk Management In Operating System

Image
Disk Management  Disk is a secondary storage device that is used to store data.  The external devices such as hard disk, magnetic disks and floppy disks stores data in the sectors.  These devices provide the data to user programs by means of I/O requests.  Disk Management is an important function of operating system and includes disk buffering and management of swap area and disk cache.  Disk Structure  Disks provide a means to store a large amount of information for modern computer.  A disk is usually divided into tracks, cylinder and sectors.  Below fig shows the various components of a disk system.  Data is stored on a series of magnetic disks called platters. These disks are connected by a common spindle that spins at very high speed (some spindle rotate at speeds of 3600 revolutions per minute).  The two surfaces of a platter are covered with a magnetic material similar to that on a magnetic tape. Information is recorded mag...

Basic information about Football

Football    History /Introduction  Football is an ancient game. In ancient times, it was played in Egypt, China, and Europe under different rules. The rules of modern football were framed by Cambridge University, England in 1848. Federation of international football association (FIFA) was established in 1904. The game of football was included in Olympic games in 1908. The first world cup of football was organised in 1930. It is the most popular game of the world and is played by more than 200 countries of the world.  In india, it was initiated by Britishers. India participated in football, in 1948, London Olympics for the first time. India stood fourth in 1956 Melbourne Olympics. India has the honour of winning 1951 and 1962 Asian games.  Latest rules of Football are :-  1. Number of ...

Classification of Computer Networks

Image
CLASSIFICATION OF COMPUTER NETWORKS :-  There are three types of a network.  1. Local Area Network (LAN)  2 . Wide area Network (WAN)  3. Metropolitan area Network (MAN)  A local area network enables you to connect a group of personal computers within a single building or small geographical area while a wide area Network is a network of computers dispersed geographically.  The metropolitan area Network lies between LAN and WAN. It is a network which covers entire city.  Let us discuss these three in more detail.  1. Local Area Network (LAN) :- When two or more computers are connected in a small area i. e. network is known as local area network.  It is made for an organisation and most of the times it is within a single building.  The data rate in LAN is of order of Mbps i. e. Mega bits per second. A LAN consists of  * Computers  * Graphic stations  * User terminal stations or workstations  * Cables of tran...

Types of Hubs in Network Hardware

Image
TYPES Of HUBS:- There are three main types of Hubs : 1. Passive Hub  2. Active Hub 3. Intelligent Hub  * passive Hub  It simple combines the signals of a network segment. There is no signal processing or regeneration.  It reduces the cable distance by half because it does not boost the signals.  With a passive Hub each computer receives the signals sent from all other computer connected to the hub.  * Active Hub  They are like passive Hub have electronic components which regenerate and amplify the signals.  By using active Hub signals.  The major problem with the hub is that it amplifies the noise along with signal.  * Intelligent Hub  In addition to signal regeneration, intelligent Hub performs some network management and intelligent path selection.  Hubs can also be create multiple levels of hierarchy.  Follow me for next parts. Network hardware in computer network

Image
Network Hardware  Network Hardware is the physical equipments needed to perform the data processing and communication within the network.  It connects the different computer peripherals among a group of users, network Hardware, NICs (Network Interface Cards), hubs, switches, cables, routers modem, ISDN adaptors etc.  Some of the common Network devices are : 1. Hub:- It connects the multiple ethernet segment together making to act a segment.  A hub is used to join number of Input lines. Data coming from to Input line is transmitted to all other line. When using a hub, every attached devices share the common broadcast domain. Hence only one computer connected to hub is able to transmit at a time.  Depending on the network topology, the hub provides the basic livel I OSI model connection among the network objects.  Hub are multiple port repeaters, and such they obey the same rule as repeaters.  They operate at OSI model physical layer.  H...

Network software

NETWORK SOFTWARE:- For the smooth working of Network software the following are the important elements * 1. Network Operating system (NOS)  2. Network Protocol (NP)  3. Device Driver or Network system  * NETWORK OPERATING SYSTEM :- Definition :- Network Operating system is program or set of program's that instruct the computer to schedule and control peripheral devices such as modems and printers.  Commonly used Network Operating system are:-  1. Windows NT 2. Linux It controls a network and its messages traffic and queues,  It control in access by multiple users to network resources such a files.  It control network administrative functions.  It provides the security.  It provides file, print Web services back up and replication services.  Support internetworking such as routing WAN ports.  User management and support for logon and logoff, remote access, system management, auditing tools with graphics.  *NETWORK PRO...

General information of Athletics for Athletes

Image
Athletics  Introduction / History  Athletics is a very wide term in itself. Sometime it is used for the preliminary activities of other games too. The term Athletics is derived from a Greek word 'Athlos' which means Contest. So, Athletics is considered as the king of all games. Different events of track and field are organised according to the different age, class, and gender of the players. Athletics include running, jumps and throws. In other words Athletics is also called as Track and Field events.  Three types of events are organised in Athletics : (i) Track Events :- The running events are called track events. They are measured against time.  (ii) Field Events :- The jumping and throwing even ts are called as field events. They are measured against distance.  (iii) Combined events :- Some other unique events which are called as combined events are also organised in Athletics. In fact, these are the combination of some track and field events. Pantahlon,...
